Your safety is under threat.
The RTBU says put rail safety first.

Australia is getting a new National Rail Safety Regulator. This regulator will ensure that rail safety standards are consistent across Australia.

For people who work on Australia’s railways, there is nothing more important than safety. That’s why we must make sure the National Rail Safety Regulator is set up in a way that protects workers, and applies the best possible safety standards.

The proposals so far, however, have a number of problems. Lowering safety standards across the country could put lives at risk.

A project board has been put together to create this new body, and to design new national safety regulations. The board is consulting with people from the rail industry now before it makes final decisions about the way rail safety will be regulated.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL THAT RAIL WORKERS HAVE THEIR SAY IN THIS PROCESS.

That’s why the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has set up this web site – to give you information about the process, and to help you to have your say.
